LITTLE WOMEN
Rehearse from February 2
Run March 19 - May 17
Director: Elizabeth Fiester
A faithful adaptation of the classic, beloved Louisa May Alcott novel, with wonderful music enhancing the adventures of Jo March and her sisters and the men in their lives during the Civil War era in Massachusetts.
JOSEPHINE (JO) MARCH - 20-30. Mezzo Soprano. Requires enormous vocal stamina & range, 13 songs and many aggressive vocals. Grows from young tomboy to mature womanhood. A tour-de-force role.
MEG MARCH - 20-30. Soprano. Oldest, loveliest of the sisters, anxious to begin adult life. Match-up with John Brooke.
BETH MARCH - 18-26. Mezzo/Soprano. Sweet, quiet, fragile even before becoming ill with scarlet fever. Several beautiful duets.
AMY MARCH - 16-24. Mezzo/Soprano. Changes the most of the sisters, appears 11/12 in the beginning and a young woman at the end.
MARMEE - 40-60. Alto. Their mother, warm, wonderful, trying to be strong for her girls while her husband is away at war.
LAURIE - 20-30. Tenor. A young man who loves the March family. Curious, likeable, a match for Jo's energy. Vocally challenging songs.
AUNT MARCH - 50-70. Mezzo Soprano. The girls' wealthy, opinionated great-aunt (with a soft center). Brings a lot of comedy to the show.
MR. LAWRENCE - 50-70. Baritone. Laurie's grandfather. Stern & scary, but generous, ultimately warms to the Marches. One song.
JOHN BROOKE - 22-35. High Baritone. Laurie's tutor, in love with Meg.
PROF. BHAER - 35-45. Baritone/High Baritone. Reserved, intelligent, gentle, wonderful match with Jo. Two songs. Needs German accent.
MRS. KIRK - 30-50. Mezzo Soprano. Head of the New York boarding house where Jo moves and meets Prof. Bhaer. Prefer Irish accent.
ENSEMBLE - 8 to 10 male & female dancers, play characters (Hags, Trolls, monks) in Jo's fantastic, gory stories.
